On September 18 the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System hosted the annual Prisoner of War/Missing in Action (POW/MIA) Ceremony, recognizing those who endured captivity or never returned home from combat. The ceremony included a special recognition of two WWII Veterans in attendance. These two Ex-POWs mentioned to staff they had not received their Prisoner of War medals after their time in service and would like the get the medals. The staff at Loma Linda VA pursued their request.

To make this possible help came from Congressman Joe Baca, his local representatives and local AMVETS Service Officer Oscar Sifuentes, who worked hard to get these medals for these Veterans in time for this ceremony.

Congressman Baca’s representative Michael Townsend presented the medals to both Ex-POWs in attendance at the ceremony. In an auditorium full of fellow Ex-POWs and family they received a well deserved standing ovation from the crowd.
