Cancer Survivors Celebrate Life and their Caregivers
On November 3 the VA Loma Linda Medical Center hosted the 1st Annual Cancer Survivorship Celebration. At the event Cancer Survivors celebrated their lives and those who helped them through their fight against cancer.
The event provided survivors an opportunity to recognize and thank their special caregivers by presenting them with a certificate of appreciation. Several survivors got up and delivered an emotional thank you to their caregivers.
Cancer survivor, Aaron Burchard thanked his wife Shirley who helped him through two and half years of chemotherapy. He told the crowd that he wouldn't be alive today without the support of his wife and the Oncology Team at the VA Loma Linda Medical Center.
The ceremony ended with Sharen Wegner, Nurse Practitioner for the VA Loma Linda Oncology Team thanking everyone for attending and making this first event a success and looks forward to next year's celebration.
